After graduating from Dos Pueblos High School in Carpinteria, Calfornia, Johanna attended Princeton, where she majored in English and completed a thesis in which she analyzed representations of education through literacy, class, and romance in novels by Charlotte, Emily, and Anne Bronte. At Princeton, she was also a member of the university’s track team for two years, at which point she sustained a knee injury and transferred her athletic energies to rugby, a sport in which she served as the club sport’s vice president and competed in the national collegiate championship. Additionally, she served as the president of the university band, coached two local boys’ basketball teams, and worked in the campus library. Beyond the Princeton campus, she worked as an intern at the Cancer Center of Santa Barbara and as an intern at ASB Bank in Auckland, New Zealand. At Taft, Johanna teaches English, coaches girls’ varsity basketball and track, and she lives in USGD.
