About the Program

The Taft Martial Arts program started as a health and wellness initiative for staff and faculty. It quickly became apparent that Taft had many martial arts practitioners amongst the student body with no outlet for their abilities. As a result, the program began being offered to students of all skill levels in 2013. The program aims to provide a safe training environment while empowering young men and women through the development and practical application of self-defense skills.

About the Coach

Mr. Snow first found karate at the age of eight and promptly quit after two classes. It would be many years later (while looking for something to keep him busy after college) that he would find martial arts again. He quickly immersed himself in the arts of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai kickboxing, training and competing constantly while living in the Greater Boston area. Mr. Snow is a multiple time medalist in NAGA grappling competitions and competed as a professional Mixed Martial Artist before retiring from active competition in 2007.
