The Global Leadership and Service Collaborative is the realization of an extraordinary vision: It is a dynamic, progressive partnership between a private school and a local community, built to grow and benefit both, while teaching students to become actively engaged and globally aware citizens and leaders. It is both forward thinking and compelling, and the embodiment of our school’s motto, Non ut sibi ministretur sed ut ministret.

The Collaborative was established in 2013 with early support from the Edward E. Ford Foundation; additional funding from the Ion Bank and Connecticut Community Foundations has allowed the partnership to grow and flourish. The Global Leadership and Service Collaborative unites Taft with the City of Waterbury, Waterbury public schools, and the Waterbury Police Activity League (PAL) in creating opportunities for students to both explore global issues and develop the skills and understanding they need to address them. Through mentorship programs, service opportunities, and our Global Leadership Institute, students from Taft and Waterbury public schools gain and share diverse perspectives, while becoming empowered agents of social change.
