Mutual Funds
To make a gift of mutual funds, please contact Anna Kasperuk at Taft (860-945-7742 or akasperuk@taftschool.org) and Jorja Watts at BNY Mellon Capital Markets (412-234-0439) in order to confirm that the Mutual Fund being gifted can be accepted. A cusip number or security symbol will be needed.
For Donors Who Hold Their Account at a Broker-Dealer:
Most broker-dealers can deliver gifted mutual funds through a system called ACAT. Please supply your delivering broker with the following information in order to execute such a transfer:

Make sure you, and the mutual fund representative/broker/dealer, agree on the shares you wish to donate for cost basis.
For Donors Who Hold Their Accounts Directly with the Mutual Fund Company:
In order for the mutual fund to be delivered in, a bin/shell account must be established at the fund by Pershing, our clearing broker. Please call Jorja Watts at 412-234-0439 to have the bin/shell account opened. This process can take at least 24 hours. Once the account has been established, you can instruct the Mutual Fund Company to move your shares into the bin/shell account that was established. If needed, Taft can provide you with a Transfer Letter of Authorization you will need in order to process this request. You must contact the Mutual Fund Company or Brokerage Firm in order to obtain the directions on where to send the letter and whether a Signature Medallion Guarantee is necessary to process the transfer.
