Mamma Mia! opens in Bingham this weekend!
Taft's fall musical will be one to remember: Mamma Mia! brings, laughter, energy, tons of color and retro fashion, and those catchy ABBA tunes we all know and love to the Bingham stage.
"The songs that have been stuck in all of our heads since September will now be stuck in yours!" says director Helena Fifer. "Let yourself go and sing along!"
Since it was first performed in London's West End in 1999, Mamma Mia! has captured the hearts of millions of theatergoers everywhere as it tells the story of bride-to-be Sophie Sheridan, and her efforts to get mom Donna to help her—at last—find her dad in time for him to walk her down the aisle.
"This production has been the work of 67 Taft students and innumerable adults," Fifer says. "You will be impressed with the students who dance while singing those tight harmonies on stage, and with the students you might not see who are making it all happen in the orchestra pit, backstage, and up in the sound booth. The production team and the Taft students are a talented bunch, and are excited to bring you this fantastic show! We'd like to think that our production is among the best of those being performed on this day."
Performances are in Bingham Auditorium Friday & Saturday, October 25 & 26 at 7:30 pm; Wednesday, October 30 at 1:30 pm; and Friday, November 1 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are not required.
