Generous Donors Gave Close to $2 million as Part of Taft’s Day of Giving

Taft’s ninth annual Day of Giving was a tremendous, record-breaking success. Alumni, parents, grandparents, students, faculty, staff, and friends joined together to show their enthusiasm, support, and love for Taft.

“The inspiring loyalty and collective strength of the Taft community was on full display during our Day of Giving. It was a global effort,” says Melanie Panasci, Assistant Director of Annual Giving. “When so many community members come together to support Taft, we can accomplish incredible things. We are grateful to each and every donor.”

Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of the Taft community, we exceeded our goals of raising $700,000 and reaching 1,000 individual donors, and we unlocked additional benefits for the Taft community, including a gift of $125,000 from a very generous alum.

At the end of the day, 1,100 individual donors from 42 states and 27 countries rose to the Day of Giving challenge, including 756 alumni donors who contributed $1,054,869 and 173 current parents who showed their support with gifts totaling $594,007. Former parents, grandparents, faculty, staff, and friends provided an additional $103,406, bringing the Day of Giving grand total to an extraordinary $1,752,282.

“The generosity of our donors fuels our mission to provide unparalleled opportunities for Taft students, helping them to explore their talents and discover their unique pathways. We are deeply grateful to all the dedicated class agents and parent volunteers for their hard work on the Day of Giving and beyond,” notes Director of Parent Giving Joyce Romano ’92, P’14. She adds, “We also appreciate the enthusiasm of parents from the Classes of ’27 and ’25, who achieved outstanding participation rates of 68.9% and 60% and took the lead in the Parent Challenge.”

The Day of Giving embodies the power of our Big Red spirit along with a bit of Rhino rivalry among alumni. This year, the Reunion Classes of ’99 and ’84 topped the charts with impressive participation rates of 27.9% and 27.2%, respectively. We are grateful for your Rhino pride!

Truly, each and every gift, no matter the size, plays an important role in ensuring that our high-tech classrooms, volunteer programs, art studios, and athletic facilities help create pathways toward the future for all Taft students. Thank you to all, and go BIG RED!
