Nolan Grooms ’19 Repeats as Asa S. Bushnell Cup Winner as Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year

Nolan Grooms ’19 won the Asa S. Bushnell Cup for the second straight year, just the second player in Yale history to win twice, and sixth two-time winner of the award.

Nolan Grooms ’19 was awarded the Asa S. Bushnell Cup as the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year for the second straight season on Monday, December 11, coming off a season where he led the league with 22 passing touchdowns, while also accumulating 2,451 yards of total offense: 588 coming on the ground, and 1,863 through the air, and also led the Bulldogs to a second straight Ivy League title. Grooms becomes just the second player in Yale history to be awarded the Bushnell Cup twice, and the sixth two-time winner of the award.

The Asa S. Bushnell Cup has been presented annually since 1970 and is awarded “by a vote of the Ivy League’s eight head football coaches to the players who display outstanding qualities of leadership, competitive spirit, contribution to the team and accomplishments on the field.”
