For the twelfth time since 2011, the volleyball program was awarded the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award, while Lachlan Hawes ’23 was recognized as a USMC/NWCA High School Scholar All-American.
The 2022–23 varsity volleyball team was awarded the 2023 USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award earlier this month, making this the twelfth time since 2011 that the team has earned this award. The USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award was initiated in the 1992–93 academic year, and it honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or a 4.1 on a 5.0 scale. The team was one of 1,343 collegiate and high school volleyball teams to earn the United States Marine Corps/American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award.
Members of the 2022–23 squad included Scarlett Castillo ’23, Katherine Erbstein ’24, Charlotte Hay ’24, Skylar Johnson ’23, Skylar Kline ’23, Angie Montambault ’23, Omi Oliver ’23, Ellie Qudeen ’25, Grace Qudeen ’25, Lucy Schwab ’24, Sara Takanabe ’24, Sofia Viale ’23, Avery Vittone ’26, Saylor Waddell ’24, Julia Whelan ’25, Marianne Williams ’23, and Hannah Xu ’26.
Wrestler, Lachlan Hawes ’23, was recognized by the United States Marine Corps and the National Wrestling Coaches Association as a high school scholar All-American, for his achievements both in the classroom and on the mat.
