Artist and Venue Update: Guitarist Andrew Zohn Plays Walker Hall January 11, 2019
Guitarist Andrew Zohn brings his Classical artistry and repertoire to Taft School's Walker Hall for an evening performance Friday, January 11, 2019, at 7:00 pm. Tickets are not required; the event is free and open to the public.
Andrew Zohn is recognized internationally for his work as a performer, instructor, and composer. He has performed as a soloist and chamber musician across five continents, most recently touring the United States, China, Argentina, Italy, Egypt, Malaysia, Germany, and the Netherlands. Reviews of his critically acclaimed performances note that "Zohn...easily demonstrated how he is one of the most sought-after performers on the classical guitar as his fingers deftly plucked some of the most subtle of tones on the instrument." (The Star, Kuala Lumpur) Zorn has performed and taught at many of the world's most prestigious music festivals, including China's Festival of New Music at the Central Conservatory of Music; the Guitar Festival Changsha and Shenyang Festival in China; the Mediterranean Guitar Festival, Borguitar Festival, Festivale Emilia Romagna, and Musica Ravenna in Italy; Spain's Sevilla Guitar Festival; and GuitareMontreal, Canada, among others.
Dr. Zohn has served on the faculty of the Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University (CSU) in Georgia for 20 years, where he directs the annual CSU Guitar Symposium. His students have won prizes in dozens of international competitions including, among others, The Parkening International, The Guitar Foundation of America, The World Guitar Competition in Serbia, and The Asia International in Bangkok. Many of his students have been also been featured on the American National Public Radio program highlighting outstanding young musical talent From the Top.
