Meet Dani

Where are you from?
I am from Hong Kong.

What kinds of things have you been involved in during your time at Taft?
I have served on three class committees and am now a school monitor; I have also been a dorm monitor for Congdon for the past two years. As someone passionate about the arts, I have been a co-head of Taft’s art collective, Fleeting Thoughts, for two years now. I have participated in the all-girls a capella group, Hydrox, for four years, and now am a co-head. I have also been a captain of the JV volleyball team and played on the JV golf team.

What is/was your favorite class (or classes) at Taft, and why?
My favorite class at Taft is Media and Identity with Ms. Bouffard. I took this class this fall, and it has taught me so much about how media has positively and negatively affected our generation.

What is your favorite spot on campus?
My favorite spot on campus is the Bristol Music Room, Taft’s recording studio. I have made so many memories from my sophomore and junior years playing the guitar and making music with my friends.

What has been your most memorable Taft moment?
My most memorable moment was my freshman year Spring Sunset where I played an original song in front of the entire school. I was super nervous then, but I received so much love and support from my friends and peers.

What is one piece of advice you’d give new or prospective Taft students?
Go into Taft knowing that people will accept you for who you are, so don’t try to change yourself to fit in! This is the place to figure out your passions and interests, and everyone around you will be super supportive no matter what.

What does it mean to be a Rhino?
Being a Rhino means putting in 110% of your effort to help and support those around you, whether that means trying to be the kindest version of yourself or being open-minded to better understand others.
