Financial Aid Information and Application Instructions for Young Scholars or Liberal Studies Boarding Students

 

Information

Financial aid is awarded to outstanding middle or high school students who can demonstrate financial need. Selection is based on need, character, academic achievement, teacher recommendations, and a writing sample. Awards vary from partial to full scholarships, and do not include travel and personal spending money.

Please note: Due to very limited resources, being an applicant for financial assistance places a student in a more competitive situation for admission. Only families with demonstrated need should consider applying for financial assistance. Applicants not admitted with assistance may request to be reconsidered as regular candidates. Please be aware that scholarships are offered only one time to the same student and/or family. Regretfully, Summer@Taft is unable to offer financial assistance to international students.

Instructions

The following materials must be received in one complete package by April 1, 2026 (no separate mailings, please!). Please complete the online form and send all tax information through our secure portal https:/ /taftschool.leapfile.net.

Incomplete applications cannot be considered, and late applications may be considered only upon cancellation of earlier awards.

1. Submit completed Application Forms A, one School Recommendation Form and two Teacher Recommendation Forms. The links to these forms can be found on the application.

2. Your child's school should add a copy of your child's certified school transcript (a photocopy of an official transcript is acceptable)with the School Recommendation Form.

3. Complete and submit attached Financial Aid Application Form, and include copies of 2025 or 2026 IRS 1040 forms, parents' W2 forms and/or 1099 forms.
